How it works

How IPTV Works: From Order to Watching in Minutes

IPTV delivers live TV and on-demand video over your internet connection instead of a cable or satellite signal. Here is exactly what happens from the moment you order to the moment you press play.

The Short Version

  1. 1

    Choose a plan

Pick 1, 3, 6 or 12 months and your channel package at checkout.

  2. 2

    Pay by Interac

Send an Interac e-Transfer from your own bank with your order number in the message.

  3. 3

    Get your login

We email your Xtream Codes login and M3U link, usually within minutes.

  4. 4

    Press play

Install a player app, enter the login, and start watching.

What happens after you order

Checkout gives you an order number and the Interac e-Transfer details: the recipient (ITLOGY LLC, our billing company), the payment email and the exact amount. You send the e-Transfer from your own banking app with the order number in the message. That number is how we match your payment to your order, so it is the one detail not to skip.

As soon as the payment lands, we activate your account and email your login. If you added a phone number, we also send it on WhatsApp. If you are extending an existing plan, the new months are added to the end of your current one and your login stays the same.

What you receive

  • Xtream Codes API login: a server address, a username and a password. Apps such as TiviMate and IPTV Smarters use it to load live channels, the TV guide, catch-up, movies and series automatically.
  • M3U playlist link: a single web address that lists every channel. It works in almost any player, including VLC, and is a handy backup.

The setup guides show where to enter each one on Firestick, Android TV, Apple TV, Smart TVs and computers.

How the streaming itself works

Our servers receive each channel and send it to your device as a stream of data. The player app keeps a few seconds of video in a buffer so short dips in your connection do not interrupt the picture. Live channels play as they air; catch-up lets you go back up to seven days on supported channels; and the on-demand library plays films and series whenever you choose.

Because everything arrives over the internet, the same subscription works on your TV, phone, tablet and computer. The number of screens that can play at the same moment depends on how many connections your plan includes.

What you need at home

  • A device that runs an IPTV player: a Firestick or other streaming stick, an Android or Google TV box, an Apple TV, a Smart TV, a phone or a computer. Our device comparison helps you choose.
  • A steady internet connection: about 15 Mbps for one Full HD stream and 30 Mbps for one 4K stream. Check yours with the IPTV speed calculator.
  • Optional but helpful: an Ethernet cable or adapter for the main TV.

How IPTV Works: Questions

Do I need a cable box or satellite dish?

No. IPTV uses your internet connection and an app on a device you probably already own, such as a Firestick, Smart TV or phone.

Does IPTV work on any internet provider in Canada?

Yes. It works on Bell, Rogers, Telus, Vidéotron and every other provider. What matters is speed: plan for about 15 Mbps for one Full HD stream and 30 Mbps for one 4K stream.

Can I watch on my phone outside the house?

Yes, on Wi-Fi or mobile data, as long as only as many streams play at once as your plan's connections allow.
